Local Makers
How to add, update, and remove local maker profiles on marketofchoice.com.
Local maker profiles live at marketofchoice.com/{maker-slug}/ as regular WordPress posts in the Local Makers category. They also appear on the Amplify page (/mojo-amplify/), location pages, and various content pages across the site.
Where Makers Appear
When adding or removing a maker, check all of these locations:
- Maker profile page — the post itself at
/{maker-slug}/ - Local Makers photo pages —
/local-maker-photos/,/local-makers/ - Store location pages — featured maker grids on each
/locations-{slug}/page - Amplify page —
/mojo-amplify/(woman-owned, BIPOC, veteran-owned, etc.) - Homepage features — if the maker is featured in a hero or content block
- Department pages — some makers are featured on relevant department pages
- Blog/article mentions — search for the maker name in post content
- Specialty pages — gluten-free, organic, and other curated pages
When removing a maker, scrub all site mentions — not just the profile page. Unpublishing the post alone will leave broken references across the site.
Adding a New Maker
Create the post
Navigate to Posts > Add Post. Set the title to the maker/brand name.
Build the page with Fusion Builder
Maker pages typically follow a consistent layout:
- Hero image or banner
- Brand story / description copy
- Product photos or gallery
- Location availability (which stores carry the products)
Use Fusion Builder elements to match the layout of existing maker pages.
Set the featured image
Upload the featured image at 1200x925px (48:37 aspect ratio). This appears in WPUPG grids on location pages and the makers index.
Assign categories and tags
- Check Local Makers category (required)
- Add relevant tags for search and related posts
- Set Site Display for location-specific visibility
Add to Amplify (if applicable)
If the maker qualifies for an Amplify program (Woman Owned, BIPOC, Veteran Owned, etc.):
- Navigate to Amplify > All Amplify
- Create or edit the Amplify post for this maker
- Set the Amplify Program taxonomy to the correct program(s)
Update location pages
If the maker should be featured on a specific store's location page, update the WPUPG grid for that location. See the Store Location Pages guide.
SEO and publish
- Set Yoast meta title and description
- Verify the slug is clean (
/maker-name/) - Publish
Removing a Maker
Search for all mentions
Before unpublishing, search for the maker name across the site:
- Check all locations listed in "Where Makers Appear" above
- Use the WP admin search or browser find on key pages
- Check the Amplify page for program listings
Remove from content pages
Edit each page that references the maker and remove or replace the content block. This includes location page grids, department features, and specialty pages.
Unpublish the Amplify post
If the maker has an Amplify post, set it to Draft.
Unpublish the maker post
Set the maker profile post to Draft — don't delete it.
Notes
- Maker pages are regular posts, not a custom post type
- The
/local-maker-photos/page may have a regional "Oregon Coast Maker Spotlight" section — remove the copy if no coastal makers are currently featured - Image optimization matters — maker pages with many photos can be slow. Optimize before uploading.
- The WPUPG grid configuration controls which posts appear in maker grids on location pages
