Department Pages

How to update department pages on marketofchoice.com.

Department pages live at marketofchoice.com/{department-slug}/ and showcase each store department — Bakery, Deli, Meat & Seafood, Produce, Kitchen, Beer & Wine, Cheese, Grocery, etc.

Page Structure

Department pages are Avada/Fusion Builder pages with:

  1. Hero banner — department-specific header image
  2. Description copy — overview of the department
  3. Photo gallery or rotating images — product/department photos
  4. Secondary navigation — links to sub-sections (e.g., Beer & Wine has Wine, Beer, Spirits)
  5. Featured products or highlights — seasonal features, staff picks

Making Content Updates

Open the page in Fusion Builder

Navigate to Pages > All Pages and find the department page, or use the admin bar "Edit Page" link from the front-end.

Edit the content

Department pages use Fusion Builder containers and columns. Common update types:

  • Copy changes — edit text elements directly
  • Image swaps — replace images in image elements or background images on containers
  • Section reordering — drag containers in Fusion Builder to reorder sections
  • Adding/removing sections — add new containers or delete existing ones

Image specs

  • Hero banners — full-width, at least 2400px wide, JPEG quality 85
  • Gallery/inline images — optimize to web size, keep under 500KB each
  • Grid images — 1200x925px (48:37 aspect ratio) if used in WPUPG grids

Save and verify

Update the page. Clear WP Engine cache. Check both desktop and mobile layouts.

Secondary Navigation

Some departments have sub-pages with their own secondary nav (e.g., Beer & Wine > Wine, Beer, Spirits). These nav menus are managed via Appearance > Menus or inline within the Fusion Builder layout. Check which approach the specific department uses before making nav changes.

Notes

  • Department categorization matters for reporting on the reservations site — sushi platters go under Kitchen, for example
  • The Kitchen department page links to the Supper Club on the reservations site
  • Some department pages have rotating photo bars (Master Slider) — edit via Master Slider in the admin
  • Image optimization is critical — department pages with many photos can be very slow without it
  • Pizza availability varies by location — the pizza page notes which stores don't offer it (e.g., "Not currently available at our Ashland Market")
