Homepage Content
How to update hero banners and featured content on the marketofchoice.com homepage.
The homepage at marketofchoice.com uses Avada/Fusion Builder with a mix of static content blocks and dynamic elements. Hero content and featured sections are updated periodically — usually for seasonal campaigns, new store launches, or promotional pushes.
Page Structure
The homepage layout typically includes:
- Hero section — large banner image or slider at the top
- Featured content blocks — promotional cards, seasonal highlights
- Blog/recipe features — pulled from recent posts
- Department highlights — links to department pages
- Location finder — store locator section
Updating the Hero
Hero content is managed via Master Slider (the slider plugin) or inline Fusion Builder elements, depending on the current homepage configuration.
Identify the current hero type
Open the homepage in Fusion Builder. The hero might be:
- A Master Slider shortcode — editable via Master Slider in the WP admin sidebar
- A Fusion Builder container with background image and overlay text
- A combination of both
Prepare the assets
Hero images should be:
- Full-width — at least 2400px wide for retina displays
- Optimized — JPEG quality 85, keep file size under 500KB
- Appropriate aspect ratio — typically 16:9 or wider for desktop, with a mobile-friendly crop
Update the content
For Master Slider: navigate to Master Slider in the admin, find the homepage slider, and edit the slides (images, text overlays, links).
For Fusion Builder: edit the homepage, find the hero container, and update the background image and content elements.
Preview and publish
Preview the changes, checking both desktop and mobile layouts. Update the page. Clear WP Engine cache to ensure logged-out visitors see the changes.
Updating Featured Content Blocks
Featured content blocks (promotional cards, seasonal highlights) are typically Fusion Builder columns with:
- Background image or icon
- Heading and description text
- Link to a destination page
Edit these directly in Fusion Builder on the homepage.
Notes
- The homepage is heavily cached — always clear WP Engine cache after updates
- Hero images should be tested at both desktop and mobile viewports — Fusion Builder has responsive visibility options for showing different content per breakpoint
- Seasonal content (holiday banners, event promotions) should be swapped out promptly after the event ends
- The homepage references local makers, blog posts, and department content — if any of those are removed or unpublished, check the homepage for broken references
